Builder? Broker? Bestie? Or a beast of a businesswoman?
Hahaha that’s a question I haven’t heard before! But I think I see what you are getting at!
To break down your question into parts, yes, I am a builder, who personally invests in residential real estate. Since nothing happens in a silo, I attribute my success to thoughtful partnering with other industry people, brands, products and services to elevate my work. For example, several of Susan Vanech Builds homes have been honored to receive awards for best technology integration. Partnering with Tecknow, we were able to create and present homes inclusive of a smart living ecosystem providing, simple, secure and sustainable environments. I don’t just build homes, I build relationships.
I hold my real estate license with COMPASS, the country’s largest independent brokerage. In fact, I am the founding agent for my area in Fairfield County, Connecticut. With the power of the COMPASS platform and accessibility to the 35,000 plus agents, I founded Coastal COMPASS, a co-marketing division. Coastal COMPASS joins forces with top performing real estate agents in water communities coast to coast to coast while elevating and celebrating lifestyle brands that help better serve client needs. These needs range from wings to wheels to water to art to accessories, We care and cater to each of our client’s personal luxury lifestyles.

Technology can’t do it alone… Techknow founder Phil Levieff in collaboration with Susan Vanech/builder and founder of Coastal Compass and Kimberly Burke of Berkshire Hathaway.
Which brings me to besties! A little cuter of a word than I might choose, but let me see if I can take that thread and weave it into my story. Bottom line is, I care about my clients, I care about my colleagues, and I care about my collaborators. I like to surround myself with people, groups and businesses that I admire and strive to emulate. A friendship often develops, but more so, I have such an extreme respect for everyone I work with and work for, that it’s very easy to fall in sync and fuel synergies. For example, the brokerage, BARNES International and BARNES Yachting understands the power of relationships and catering to the lifestyle needs within a luxury market. We share the same clientele and our clientele share similar needs. We collaborate consistently, always with these needs at the forefront of our business decisions.
And if all of that makes me a beast of a businesswoman, I’ll proudly carry that designation alongside each of my clients, colleagues and collaborators. As we know, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. I am very grateful for all of the parts!

Oscar Losada
According to Oscar Losada, CEO BARNES Yachting in the Americas, “the synergy between BARNES International and COMPASS reflecting the natural evolution of two companies that dominate their own markets but desire to continue growing through an alliance with another entity of the same caliber and culture.”

Project Orion
From concept to close a Coastal COMPASS collaboration results in success for clients navigating from harbor to home and everywhere in between.
