Domus Artium Reserve
The spirit of artistic collaboration is at the heart of a new venture bringing together some of the greatest names in wine, food, art, and cinema: Domus Artium Reserve. Its esteemed partners have joined forces to create a unique private club celebrating the pinnacle of wine, food and extraordinary experiences in the visual, performing and cinematic arts.
The spark of the idea came from trained concert pianist, Barrett Wissman, who knows that great music doesn’t happen alone. Throughout his storied career as a musician, businessman and philanthropist, he’s always realized that collaboration is the key to making anything that’s truly unforgettable. With a life dedicated to promoting the cultural arts, there has been one underlying skill that has allowed him to create exceptional experiences that are always greater than the sum of their parts, his ability to connect people. So, he knew that to make Domus Artium Reserve the most successful collaboration it possibly could be, he had to find the right partners.
The idea was to bring together the best minds in the worlds of wine, food and art in unique ways to create something greater, so he sought out the most talented people in their respective fields. Some of his partners and co-founders in Domus include famed chefs, Thomas Keller, Yannick Alléno, and Carlo Cracco, alongside renowned winemakers, Michel Rolland and Riccardo Cotarella. And to round it all out, they’re also joined by acclaimed wine critic, Antonio Galloni.
The ethos of collaboration resonates with all of its founders. Thomas Keller and Michel Rolland have partnered up to create a French Bordeaux blend that will also feature a label created by one of the most well-known digital artists in the world, Beeple. Rolland and Cotarella are also collaborating on a first of its kind, 50/50 French-Italian wine, Four Hands. All of these artists are at the top of their respective fields, but they have chosen to partner on this new venture because they know that these unique opportunities for collaboration can lead to incredible artistic breakthroughs.
But the collaboration isn’t just happening between its illustrious partners. Members also have unique opportunities to have once in a lifetime cultural experiences with these in-house experts. They can craft their own personal wine with legendary winemakers Rolland or Cotarella, or experience a fine dining event created by Keller, Alléno, Cracco, or other luminaries of the culinary world. There are also partner-led tours of various winemaking regions of Europe. Through these uniquely curated cultural experiences members gain an all-access pass to the upper echelon of wine, food, and art.
The plan is to open clubhouses around the world where members can experience these one-of-a-kind culinary, wine and arts events. The first permanent clubhouse resides in one of Rome’s most historic palaces, Palazzo Ruspoli. Thanks to a unique collaboration with the Ruspoli family, members can stay in the palace and host events, dinners and tastings on the premises. More curated club events will also take place in other historic Italian residences, including the Palazzo Ducale di Gallese and the Palazzo Colonna. Philanthropy and the ability to give back is another key component of Domus Artium Reserve’s philosophy. Many club events benefit incredible philanthropies, ensuring that the members will always have a chance to do their part for the greater good.
That philanthropic, cultural collaboration continued when Domus Artium Reserve sponsored the return of the Festival del Sole in Sonoma, California. The event brought together the worlds of wine, food, music, arts and cinema with the honoring of Robert Redford and his wife, multimedia environmental artist, Sibylle Szaggars Redford. The festival culminated with a screening of “The Way of the Rain: Hope for Earth – A Symphony for Our Planet.” A grand gala dinner and auction was hosted at Buena Vista Winery, benefiting The Way of the Rain, a nonprofit founded by Sibylle Szaggars Redford that uses artistic performances to promote environmental awareness.
Domus partner and co-founder, Michel Rolland, even created a special Bordeaux for the occasion. And one of the major highlights for those that attended, Domus Artium Reserve’s curated wine and culinary experiences. There are plenty of other unique Domus Artium Reserve events on the horizon, including Thomas Keller cooking for the opening night for Art Basel in Miami and an exclusive artist, chef collaboration dinner at Beeple Studios in Charleston.
All of the partners at Domus Artium Reserve believe that true magic occurs when artistic worlds collide. What happens when the best of the best, in wine, in food, in art, come together and collaborate with each other? That story has yet to be told because it’s never been done at this scale with this level of focus. Domus Artium Reserve is a truly one-of-a-kind club meant to create uniquely curated cultural experiences for its members. What incredible creations will result from all of this unparalleled collaboration between the most talented artists in the world? The lucky members of the Domus Artium Reserve are excited to find out. ☐
