Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa offers luxury hotel rooms and suites in tranquil Sonoma, with a variety of accommodations to suit every taste. Premium lodgings at this Sonoma 5-star resort range from beautifully appointed Deluxe Rooms to signature suites, including the spectacular Mission Spa Suite, providing unmatched levels of luxury and comfort. Many rooms feature a balcony or patio, letting you commune with the beautiful surroundings of ancient trees and lush gardens.

Located just an hour north of San Francisco, this iconic hotel is an ideal setting in which to relish the enviable Sonoma lifestyle, with geothermal pools, farm-to-table dining and access to championship golf at neighboring Sonoma Golf Club. Like the Native Americans who revered the site as a sacred healing ground, you’ll live in harmony with nature through vast open spaces, beautifully landscaped grounds and towering redwood trees.

We enjoyed a Mission Spa Suite for our stay. Open floor plan with oversized Jacuzzi soaking tub. Romantic four-poster king bed, charming wood-burning fireplace and sitting area with sofa bed.

A highlight of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa is the Fairmont Spa, which offers an environment where guests can prioritize their wellness, relax, and escape from the stresses of everyday life. A sanctuary for rejuvenation and self-care, the Fairmont Spa features premium treatments, from facials to full body massage. Select from a curated menu of exquisite wellness experiences set on an ancient hot spring feeding five geothermal pools with naturally warm, mineral-rich waters. Revive your energy at the Roman bathhouse with soaking pools, a steam room and saunas. Fairmont Spa’s location atop an ancient thermal mineral spring makes this a spectacularly unique wellness facility. Its thermal mineral pools, ranging from 92 to 102 degrees F, include a Roman soaking pool and hot tub as well as a Halotherapy Sauna and an Aromatherapy Steam Room. Historically revered by Native Americans for its healing power, the thermal mineral spring, flowing from 1,100 feet (335 meters) to below the resort, contains 27 different minerals and arrives at the surface at 112 degrees F. Outdoor terrace seating is reserved for spa service guests as well as those utilizing day access, and is designed for guests to take in the tranquil surroundings. Spend a few hours here and allow your cares to melt away! In addition to the spa, guests enjoy access to the state-of-the-art fitness center and complimentary fitness classes.

Santé, the signature restaurant at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn, is best described as “California fusion with a Sonoma passion,” led by Executive Chef Jared Reeves. With a nod to fresh, simple preparation and the use of local and sustainable ingredients, the menus which change regularly reflect flavors, techniques and recipes from several cultures and highlight seasonal ingredients from regional producers. We enjoyed dining at Santé on our previous visit to Sonoma in 2022. Our feature story on Santé in Issue #49 is available online at venumagazine.com

38° North Wine Bar at Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn is Wine Country’s hottest lounge. The sleek design respects the property’s minimalist aesthetic while maximizing the historic nuances and mission-style architecture of the storied Inn and is a great place to end a day of wine tasting and exploring. The inspiration for the unique Wine-centric lounge is the temperate latitude of the 38th parallel, along with some of the world’s most iconic wine including Spain’s Alicante, Italy’s Calabria, New Zealand’s Hunter’s and Hawke’s Bay and, of course, Sonoma County. Guests can look forward to live musical performances that take place on the front lawn of the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn on select Friday and Saturday nights. The front lawn provides a beautiful outdoor setting to relax and soak in the ambiance while enjoying music, food, and beverages. Cozy firepits are available for guests and CaliForno Street Eats offers seasonal bites and delicious food options.

Tee it up in style at Sonoma Golf Club, located just a five-minute drive from the hotel, a private club reserved for members, and guests of Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. Book your tee time directly with the hotel concierge to experience this iconic club, appreciated for its classic design and beautiful, tree-dotted fairways with a mix of long and short holes. Amenities available also include two tennis courts, a fitness center and pool, and a charming, old-world clubhouse. The course was designed under the auspices of Sonoma Mission Inn in 1928 by Sam Whiting, architect of San Francisco’s prestigious Olympic Club Lake Course. Playing just over 7,100 yards from the championship tees, this classic layout offers strategic choices and challenges. In fact, the Sonoma Golf Club was the former home of the PGA Champions Tour Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Set on 177 acres of rolling terrain highlighted by massive oaks, lakes, sweeping vistas, and neighboring vineyards, the course offers a challenging yet captivating golf experience.☐
